The dry new papers may discolor due to their high sensitivity to pH changes. However, this does not affect their effectiveness for pH determinations. In very weakly buffered or unbuffered solutions, an indicator error might occur. This can be minimized by the following method: 1. Adhere the strip to the inner wall of a test tube. 2. Fill the test tube with the fluid to be tested, up to the upper edge of the paper. 3. After 30 seconds to 1 minute, compare the color of the paper with the scale through the glass of the test tube.
